New Support
For the past 8 years, Nasimiyu's designs and creations of jewelry have enabled her to provide for the basic needs of children in her village. This belief in responsibility to care for these children led to the formation of Born to Aid foundation in 2003 as a means to further expand aid to those in need. In June, 2008 Nasimiyu opened a store in Mill Valley, California where many of her creations are showcased. 10% of all proceeds from this store are donated to Born to Aid. Education
In one district children had been using the church as their school. After the church denied them continued access, the children were forced to walk 7 miles to the nearest school to attend. The Executive Director of Born to Aid has donated her own land in Bungoma district, TuTi village, for our first project, the construction of a school with 2 classrooms. In addition we will provide funding for hiring of quality teachers and purchase of supplies.

NGO Status
 As of May, 2008 Born To Aid has been granted NGO status by the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya. We will shortly have Tax exempt as well as duty free concession from the Kenya Revenue Authority. It has been a lengthy process requiring personal appearances before the Board at several points along the way. Now that we have this status we can begin to export to Kenya medical equipment which is in storage along with well drilling rigs and other equipment.

We are all meant to shine as children do it's not just in some of us, it is in everyone Poverty has a negative impact on the entire African community, but an especially powerful effect on the women and children. Families may have to survive on as little as $1 per day. It is impossible to meet your families needs such as food, water, medicine and health care while still being able to send the children to school. It is our goal to create a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for these children who are in such desperate need.
