WATER- 'MAJI'- 'KIMACHI'

Clean Water NeededWe drink it, cook with it, bathe in it, and can not live without it. Regardless of color or culture, every person on this planet needs water to survive. But, for millions of people , access to clean water is an incredibly difficult struggle. In many African villages women must walk as much as 15 miles every day to retrieve the day's supply of water for their household.

The lack of clean water leads to a variety of water borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis, worms, and flukes. Each year 2 million children die worldwide from water borne diseases. In East Africa 70% of all hospital visits are a result of diseases caused by consumption of unsafe water.

Born To Aid plans to drill, establish and maintain safe water wells in rural villages. It is essential that there also be some degree of community responsibility for the maintenance of the wells. To further this goal there will also be education regarding well maintenance. This project will involve considerable time and expense, but it's success will drastically reduce the incidence of water borne diseases, improve hygiene, as well as provide people with an increased ability to farm, generate income, and keep livestock.
